Travel Tuesday - Copenhagen

This week we wish we were in Copenhagen! Understated and effortlessly stylish, the Danes seem to insert a new meaning into the word chic. Incredibly bike-friendly, it’s easy to get around and explore the city without any hassle – a great way to save time if you’re just visiting for a weekend. There are so many highlights in the city, here’s to name a few things that we feel shouldn't be missed…

Tivoli Gardens – this charming, old fashioned amusement park which originally opened in 1843 mixes the old with the new, with carousels and some more extreme rides that are actually quite scary (but of course fun…if you like that sort of thing!) It’s a lovely place to spend a sunny day!

The harbor in Nyhavn is a particularly lovely area to visit. You can sit in front of the colourful house fronts, one of which dates back to 1681, and enjoy something eat and drink alongside the canal! This should definitely not be missed, particularly on a sunny day! I would also recommend checking out the Amalienborg Palace, which is impressive for its architecture and it’s really close to the water front so you can see the Opera House from the other side!

The Meat Packing District, despite its odd name, is an incredibly cool place to visit. If you’re looking for delicious food or a trendy bar – definitely stop by! War Pigs is recommended for the wide variety of draft beers it serves, and also the delicious ribs.

Christ our Saviour Spire from the bottom! Christ our Saviour Spire from the bottom!

If you get the chance, it is definitely worth having a walk up the spire at the Church of Our Saviour near Christiana! It gets very steep as you get closer to the top (it is in fact 90 metres tall and has 400 steps, the last 150 being outside) – so beware – but the views over the city are incredible and breathtaking. Whilst you’re there don’t forget to check out the nearby artsy free-town, Christiana!

Oh, and I spotted a Café called Café au Lait, so here's a snap...!
