Ade's Diary - April 2025

Ade's Diary - April 2025

I honestly can’t believe it’s already the end of April, It’s been quite the month.

One of my fun outings was catching The Devil Wears Prada in the West End. Vanessa Williams was every bit the icon as Miranda Priestly. If you’re in London and looking for a fun night out this is it.

On a personal note, I’ve found so much joy getting back into movement. I first started reformer Pilates 14 years ago, and it was such a game changer.  After a long hiatus, it’s been so lovely to make the time to get back into a regular practice.

April is also my birthday month! This year was far more low-key than last, but it was very lovely, and I feel blessed to be surrounded by love.

Easter fell late this year, and we spent the holidays up North. Hosting 16 people for lunch sounds mad, but with my sister and two close friends helping (and a playlist full of Afrobeats, Reggae, Soca and early 2000s bangers), it was joyful mayhem. Cooking became a full-on dance party, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I had the opportunity to go on a gallery tour this month led by the Director of Wedel Art.  It was such a treat to visit the exhibitions on at leading galleries in Mayfair, and really insightful to get the stories behind the artists on the display.  I was particularly inspired by the artist Rose Wylie, who is currently in her 90s!  She trained as an artist, decided to dedicate her time to raising her family, and returned to making art with her full focus, achieving recognition in her 70s.  Next year she’ll have a retrospective at the Royal Academy.  I admire that she really focused on living her life and establishing her career in her own timing.

Professionally, it’s been a month of big shifts. We officially launched Handpicked by Nubian Skin—a curated project very close to my heart. If you’ve supported it already, thank you so much. Your love and encouragement mean more than I can say.

I also said goodbye to my amazing team this month. They’re all off to exciting new adventures, and I’m so excited for them.  It’s the end of an era in many ways. This new phase of the business is leaner, more focused, and I’m learning what it means to start small again—but with intention.

Finally, I’ve been laying the foundation for something very dear to my heart—NS Health. We’re expanding our breast cancer softies range for women of all colours, and working on making them more broadly available to institutions. It’s early days, but it feels important and affirming to be moving in this direction.

A lot is shifting, but there’s also so much potential.  Here’s to new chapters, stronger foundations, and finding joy in the unexpected.

With love,
Ade x
