Ade's Diary - February 2025

Ade's Diary - February 2025

February began on a high note in Nigeria, celebrating my father’s honorary doctorate for his incredible work in Ophthalmology and Healthcare. I was so proud of him, and he's such an inspiration to me to see how to combine purpose with business and make the world a better place.

Back in London, I hosted a cosy Galentine’s Evening—a night filled with laughter, friendship, and, of course, plenty of pizza and cake! It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day, and getting together with friends for a night of chatting and watching a girly movie can seem unnecessary, but we all wondered why we didn't do it more often.

I love a theme, so I go hard for all things hearts and love in February. I’ve been intentional about teaching my son the joy of celebrating the little things. We've had a LOVE SWEET LOVE banner hanging all month as a reminder that love—whether for family, friends, or ourselves—is always worth celebrating.

Valentine’s Day was really fun. We started the day with a loved themed breakfast, where I failed at my attempt at heart shaped pancakes, but they were delicious all the same. I loved getting dressed up (in red of course) and having a evening out with my husband. I love any excuse to celebrate!

Half-term was a breath of fresh air—literally. I spent it outside London, balancing work with moments of creativity and rest. I painted, practiced calligraphy, did lots of baking and cooking. The highlight? Seeing newborn lambs—such a sweet reminder of new beginnings.

Now, back in London, it's back to work and the school run. I had a tennis class recently, and the coach mentioned that often players run to the ball and get too close, so they don't have a great view of the ball, and their positioning is wrong. He encouraged us to take several steps back, so we could see the whole court and place ourselves in the optimal position to hit the ball and move in the appropriate direction. I thought that was brilliant advice for life in general.

I'm sure most of you have noticed some changes afoot with Nubian Skin. I'm in the process of broadening my view, so that I can move in the best direction. Thank you so much for your patience and support as I do that.
