Owning a business for me has been one of the most rewarding experiences, not just because I get to wake up every day and live my dream of designing and creating clothes, but because those clothes impact people's lives. I am constantly receiving messages from people telling me how my clothes have made them feel. I design clothing for everyone. My brand Terrance Williams Designs, is made-to-order, sustainable clothing that is genderless and size-inclusive. I didn’t want labels and restrictions. I wanted everyone who bought something to feel as magical and beautiful as possible wearing my clothing. Fashion can be limited, and I wanted to create a safe space for us!

People have sent me stories about how my clothes have helped them through a cancer diagnosis or reaffirmed their gender identity or that they have worn my piece on their wedding day! My brand and my business have reached a point where it is more than just about me- it is about the community that I've built and helping them realize that they are beautiful and fabulous at any size, any age and any place that they are in their life. They deserve to feel happy, beautiful and confident in the clothes that they buy and wear. Growing up I never had people who looked like me. I never had representation, so I had to figure everything out on my own and discover who I was on my own and it wasn't easy. So I need to use my platform and my position and most importantly my business to be that inspiration and to be that representation that I never had growing up. It’s a lot of fun.

I started this business in 2014 on Etsy selling little wallets, and zipper pouches - now it’s expanded to my website where I’m selling more clothing and accessories. I’ve been featured in news publications like BuzzFeed and NBC and have grown this business to be everything that I dreamed it to be, and I’m so excited for what the future holds because I have so many more ideas of things that I need to check off my bucket list! I’m a firm believer in speaking things into existence, and this business and where I am now truly is all of my manifestations come true! It’s been really great and truly a pleasure to be able to use my business and my platform to highlight other small businesses whether they be Black-owned or AAPI-owned, or Latina-owned.

Sharing my platform highlighting other POC-owned businesses and helping them succeed has been such a rewarding experience and honour and something I loves doing. We may all be small businesses, but that doesn’t mean we can’t help each other win and succeed. I feel if one of us wins, then we all can win!
